Chennai: A 23-year-old man died by suicide by leaping off the Kathipara flyover in the city on Friday. The deceased, identified as Samuel Raj, 23, lived in Krishna Nagar, Virugambakkam. The reason is yet to be ascertained. Investigations are underway. Further details are awaited.
According to eyewitnesses, the youth was traveling on a two-wheeler from the road to Kathippara flyover from Vadapalani. Then he stopped his two-wheeler at the curve passing through Porur on the Kathippara flyover.
Unexpectedly, the young man parked his two-wheeler and jumped down from the flyover. Shocked to see the young man jumping from the flyover, the passersby immediately informed the police.
Police probe on
On receiving information, the police rushed to the spot recovered the body of the young man, and sent to Chrompet Government Hospital by 108 ambulance. Doctors who examined the body said that he had already died. The body has now been sent for post-mortem. The police have registered a case regarding this incident and are investigating the cause of the youth’s suicide.
This incident comes a day after a 38- year- old Engineer K Shriniwas died by suicide by jumping into the sea from trans harbor Atal Setu bridge in Mumbai.
