Chennai: When the first phase of Chennai’s common ticketing App goes live in December this year, commuters can not only book tickets for buses and metro but also book a cab or an auto too. The Chennai Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (CUMTA) has awarded the tender for developing the travel planner app to Moving Tech Innovation Ltd that runs the Namma Yatri App in Bengaluru. According to officials the common ticketing app will also integrate sub-urban trains, MRTS, MTC Buses, Chennai Metro, Cabs, Autos, Share Autos, Movie ticket booking and much more.
“The facility of using a single ticket to use both the city bus and metro rail in Chennai will come into effect in December. Suburban train service is also going to be connected with this soon. In the first phase, provision has been made to integrate city bus and metro rail services and use both services in a single ticket. This facility will come into effect in December,” a senior official said
The contract for this project has been awarded to Bangalore-based Moving Tech Innovations. The scheme is expected to be expanded to use all three modes of transport in a single ticket in March next year.
