Coimbatore: Two children, aged six and eight, were electrocuted after they came into contact with a live wire when they were playing at a park inside their apartment in the Saravanampatti area in Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore district on Thursday evening. The incident occured at a housing Board Residential Complex for Army Soldiers, retired soldiers and their families located in the Saravanampatti – Thudiyalur Road.
The deceased identified as Gianes Reddy (6) and Priya (8) were playing in the park there last evening. While playing a skating game, Gians Reddy and Priya, were electrocuted by an unexpectedly through damaged hanging electrical wire. The bystanders were shocked to see this and took both the children to a nearby private hospital. But when the doctors examined them, it was found that both of them were dead.
The bodies of the children have been sent to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for post-mortem. The Saravanampatti police are investigating the incident. It is said that despite already complaining about the power leakage, the housing association administrators did not take any action. The police are also investigating in this regard.
