COVID-19: US witnesses spike in cases linked to new variant ‘KP.3.1.1’, check fresh symptoms

New Delhi: COVID-19 was declared endemic worldwide, but the United States continues to experience the wave of the condition. Since January this year, the US has been stuck in the middle of one of its major waves triggered by the FLirT variants that mainly show mild symptoms. According to reports, COVID-19 has gained momentum by constantly evolving itself to gain the ability to spread and infect more people and evade their immunity acquired by infections of that vaccine. It is the latest version of the COVID-19 Virus and has been dubbed as the FLirT variant that has been combined name of KP.3, KP.3.1.1 and KP.2 subvariants.

All of these lineages are the descendants of the JN.1 variant but have emerged as the fresh mutation that may boost their transmissibility. What is the FLirT variant?

FLirT variants commonly belong to the Omicron lineage and show mild symptoms when compared to COVID-19’s original variant. Moreover, the symptoms of this variant are related to the symptoms of FLirT variants that are similar to those of JN.1 and can manifest between two to 14 days after exposure.

Symptoms of FLirT variant

Some of the common symptoms of FLirT variants include fever, cough, and loss of smell or taste, according to Johns Hopkins University. While on the other hand, the CDC’s website says, the symptoms can range from mild to severe that can appear two to 14 days after a viral exposure.

Other symptoms may include shortness of breath, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, congestion, runny nose, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhoea.
