New Delhi: Former WWE superstar Mustafa Ali quit the company last year after making several unsuccessful attempts at securing his departure. He was let go from the WWE days just ahead of a planned match on “WWE NXT.” It can be said that he was on a rampant run after quitting the company, Ali opened up that he was hit by another bad news just minutes after he learned about his termination from WWE.
The instance was depicted in the recent documentary of TNA Wrestling, “Immersed: Ali vs. Bailey.” Recalling the situation after the firing, Ali said, “People don’t know that the day I got released, I went upstairs and told my wife the news. Two (or) three minutes later, her doctor called her and she was like, ‘You have a broken neck. You need neck surgery.’” (as quoted by Wrestling INC)

Soon as Ali left WWE, he began working independently, and on TNA promotions, he revealed that he was simultaneously worried about getting himself injured. His major concern was that his injury would put his family in a highly precarious position. However, Ali said that he continued to make the rounds and put in hard work for every match. A year after the difficult phone call from the doctor to his wife, Ali now had a positive update to share.
“My wife’s healthy, my babies are healthy. I’m probably not as healthy after wrestling Mike Bailey, but I think tonight I finally shut up a lot of those critics that thought I couldn’t deliver,” Ali added.
The documentary showcases the tune-up to and the aftermath of Ali vs Bailey’s TNA Slammiversary 2024 match which happened last month. In the bout, Bailey defeated Ali to lift the TNA X-Division Championship title. Ali then went on to lose another title challenge (TNA World Championship) against Nic Nemeth as a few reports stated that Ali is done with TNA for now.
