Hyderabad Taskforce former Deputy Commissioner of Police, Radha Kishan Rao, who is in jail in the phone-tapping case, confessed to widespread phone-tapping of political leaders while BRS was in power, during investigation.
As per the confession, ex-CM K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) had reportedly planned and oversaw the Moinabad farmhouse MLA poaching episode and wanted to allegedly use the case to trade-off with the BJP to ensure that his daughter Kavitha’s name is removed from the Delhi liquor scam.
2022 MLA poaching case:
In his confession statement, Radha Kishan Rao said that KCR or ‘Peddayana’ (elderly man) wanted senior BJP leader BL Santhosh to be arrested in the poaching case so that the case could be strong and BJP would come to the table for a compromise.
KCR had reportedly asked the State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) for surveillance after ex MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy alleged that some senior BJP leaders contacted him with a proposal to switch over to the saffron party.
‘Peddayana was angry for not completing the work as per his expectations. I won’t disclose any further details as I owe a lot to him,” he stated in his confession. The poaching case led to a failed attempt by Telangana police to arrest BL Santhosh.
After intercepting calls, KCR reportedly asked for a trap to be setup and instructed Tandur MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy to cooperate with the special team and asked him to take three other MLAs from different communities to the Moinabad farm house.
The plan was implemented successfully and a local BJP leader Nandakumar and two other swamijis were arrested and an SIT was formed. “However, due to inefficiency of some Cyberabad police officials, one person escaped the police net in Kerala.”
A twist occurred in the tale when another accused Bhujanga Rao revealed in his confession that ‘one Sravan Kumar of INews used to be in direct touch of Prabhakar Rao at the behest of former minister T Harish Rao,’ who is also KCR’s nephew.
Bhujanga Rao also revealed prominent figures who were subjected to surveillance. They include MLC Shambipur Raju, ex ministers T Rajaiah, Kadiyam Srihari, Patnam Mahender Reddy and his wife, among others.
