New Delhi: It seems that all is not well in the Indian dressing room after the team’s last hammering in the MCG Test match against Australia. India looked on course for a draw in the fourth match of the five-game series as the batters were firmly holding the fort on crease. But a sudden collapse turned the game altogether and India went down in the match giving Australia a 2-1 series lead.
According to a report published in The Indian Express, India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir has blasted the underperformers and the underachievers of the team inside the Indian dressing room. In response to the underwhelming performance of Team India, Gambhir has been heard saying that ‘Bahut ho gaya (I’ve had enough)’, the report mentions further.
Gambhir to decide the style of play
The head coach has also claimed that the players in the Indian team haven’t been performing as per the match situation and are neither following the plan nor improvising on their original playing style. The same report also mentions that Gambhir has firmly communicated to the team that he will take charge of the style of play from now on and not let the players take their own call.
The former Indian player has also been heard saying that after giving a free hand to all the players for the past six months, desired results have not come out so he will be the one who decides the further course of action and if anyone refuses to cooperate will be let go off. Gambhir has bee forced to take such an approach after multiple batting collapses have struck the Indian cricket team from the home Test series against New Zealand earlier this month, which India lost 0-3.
After winning the series opener at Perth by 10 wickets, Team India lost the second match at Adelaide Oval and then the third encounter at the Gabba, Brisbane ended in a draw. With Australia winning the MCG Test, the series stands at 2-1, with the final Test match at Sydney slated to begin January 3.
