New Delhi: India women skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and flamboyant batter Shafali Verma made big jumps in the latest ICC Women’s T20I rankings released on Tuesday. Meanwhile, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana maintained her position on the fifth spot in the latest rankings. Beth Mooney still leading batting charts with 769 points.
Harmanpreet, Shafali make big jump
Harmanpreet and Shafali have both earned benefits from their recent impressive performances to be tied at the 11th position on the charts. The skipper has gained a place while Shafali has jumped four slots in the batters’ list with as many as four Indian’s in the top 20. The fourth Indian player who is in the list is Jemimah Rodrigues at the 19th position. Meanwhile, the big-hitter of the women’s brigade Richa Ghosh is currently ranked 24th in the list.
Meanwhile, the bowlers’ list sees off-spinner Deepti Sharma static at the third position while pace bowler Renuka Singh leaped to the ninth spot. Left-arm spinner Radha Yadav is also placed at the 20th spot in the list. Shreyanka Patil, who was ruled out of the ongoing Women’s Asia Cup due to injury, have moved up 19 places to be at the 41st spot. Sophie Ecclestone of England topped the charts.
Meanwhile, India women have been exceptional in the ongoing Asia Cup as they have registered two back-to-back victorious in the group stage. The Women in Blue thrashed arch-rivals Pakistan in the opening match while registered another convincing win against the UAE in their next clash. They take on Nepal in their third and last group clash on Tuesday and a win will help them book a semifinal berth in the showpiece event.
