Swiggy, an Indian online food delivery platform, recently came out with a list of cities ordering the most number of vegetarian dishes. Hyderabad was placed third on the list, only behind Bangalore and Mumbai.
The analysis reveals that six out of ten most ordered dishes on the platform are vegetarian including Masala Dosa, Pav Bhaji, Margherita Pizza, Paneer Butter Masala.
The most beloved vegetarian dishes ordered by Hyderabadis include Masala Dosa and Idli while Paneer Biryani, Paneer Butter Masala and Masala Dosa topped the charts in Bangalore.
In Mumbai, Dal Khichdi and Margherita Pizza came out on top. Vegetarian orders top in the breakfast category with over 90 percent orders in the morning being vegetarian. Idli, Vada, Pongal and Masala Dosa were surprisingly a choice for customers for breakfast, lunch, dinner.
In the snack category, Margherita Pizza, Samosa, Pav Bhaji emerged to be favorites. Quick service restaurant (QSR) chains are also seeing a surge in vegetarian orders.
On a weekly basis, more than 60,000 veg salad orders are placed on the platform while vegan orders also got a bump, with Swiggy guilt free seeing a surge of 146 percent in vegan orders.
This is a part of Swiggy Green dot awards, which celebrate vegetarian dishes and highlight the growing trend of vegan, plant-based eating in India. The awards will honour restaurants serving vegetarian dishes in over 80 cities.
