A rave party was busted at Cloud 9 Homes service apartment near Cyber Towers in Madhapur area of Hyderabad on Thursday, Rangareddy district Special Task Force said.
At least 20 people were arrested, including 14 men and 6 women, after drugs and foreign liquor were found at the site. Event promoter Kishore was also detained by the police.
The party was thrown to celebrate the birthday of a realtor named Nagaraju Yadav, who is based in Begumpet. The taskforce seized an Innova Crysta vehicle, a gram of cocaine, 2 grams of MDMA, 0.68 grams of OG Kush and different brands and quantities of foreign liquor. The total estimate of the raided drugs and liquor was valued at Rs 1.25 lakh.
A case was registered against five people namely Nagaraju Yadav, Kishore, Saikumar Yadav, Emmanuel Nitin and the rest were counselled and sent away.
Police said that the drugs were sourced from Goa, a hub for narcotics and the Innova Crysta vehicle was used to transport the illegal substances.
The police said that they are committed to maintaining law and order and to ensure safety of citizens.
Telangana govt cracks down on drugs:
The raid also comes at a time when the state government has been cracking down on drugs and FM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka in Budget 2024 allocated Rs 9,564 crore to the Home Department and specifically emphasised to crack the whip on sale and use of drugs.
The FM also announced plans to create a new system to expedite trials for drug connected offenses. He said that this mechanism can act quickly to convict offenders and discourage drug use.
