Andhra Pradesh Transport Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy’s wife Haritha Reddy was under fire after she was caught on camera visibly angry at a police official for not arriving on time to escort her to a function.
Haritha Reddy was in Rayachoti, her husband’s constituency, to distribute increased pensions as promised by the TDP. It has to be noted that Haritha Reddy is not an elected official and does not hold any post in the government.
In the viral video she can be seen berating the cop and asking him, “Is it morning yet? Why are you not in your uniform? Do you also have video conferences? Do I have to wait for you for half an hour?”
Speaking to Indian Express, SI Ramesh Babu of Chinnamandem Police Station said, “There was some misunderstanding between us, someone told her that as per protocol, the SI will accompany her but there is no such protocol.”
“Due to the misunderstanding, she waited for 30 minutes and when I arrived there, she had an outburst. Later in the day, I explained to her what happened and we apologised to each other. It’s not a very big deal but video went viral,” he added.
After the incident, CM Chandrababu Naidu called up Minister Ramprasad Reddy and expressed his displeasure over Haritha Reddy’s behaviour with the cop.
The minister apologised for his wife’s behaviour and said that it would not happen again.
