New Delhi: Though Team India celebrated the result at the Gabba as the game, which seemed to be going out of hands, finally ended in a draw against Australia with bad light and showers coming to the rescue but Wednesday proved to be a bit emotional as well. One of India’s most celebrated players Ravichandran Ashwin announced the shocking decision of retirement from all forms of cricket.
Having been associated with Team India for almost 14 years, Ashwin achieved a lot of feats performing consistently for the side and especially during the time of difficultly when his side needed him, the seasoned campaigner always stood their. After his surprising decision at the post-match conference, the legendary player was honoured and his career was celebrated inside the Indian dressing room.
Ashwin’s speech steals the show
Meanwhile, all the things that were done for Ashwin in the Indian dressing room in Brisbane were appreciated but it was his farewell speech which left the Indian team members emotional. He started with saying that he does not to how to go about it as speaking in a team huddle is easier and to give a farewell speech is tad difficult. Acknowledging everything, Ashwin said that it is a very emotional moment for him as he has sight of his debut and the first tour to Australia in 2011 afresh in his mind.
The Indian magician said that transitions do happen and he’s has seen Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar leave and today was his time. Go on with his word of wisdom, Ashwin thanked everyone for their support they extended towards the players in these years and also told them that he will be watching them closely perform in the next two Test matches.

The last line line which took the breathe away of his team members was that ‘If you guys need anything, I am just a call away’. This emotional line turned each and every player of the team teary-eyed and it was followed by a cake-cutting ceremony and photo sessions. The veteran player also said that he would be travelling back to India tomorrow.
