Played, Sanju Samson. Cracks his 11th First Class hundred, a first away from the Kerala team in his 105th innings. Would be mighty pleased with this knock ahead of a full-fledged red-ball season with Kerala this year. #DuleepTrophy

Sanju Samson’s India D in look for consolation win

Samson’s knock propelled India D to 349 after Saini led the charge for his team with a fifer (5 for 74), the sixth in FC cricket for the Delhi speedster. On Day 1, the top order of India D scored laid the platform for a big total with Devdutt Padikkal (50), Srikar Bharat (52), and Ricky Bhui (56) notching-up crucial fifties. It was the third half-century for Padikkal in as many innings in the tournament while Bhui’s knock came after his century went in vain in India D’s 186-run loss to India A in the previous match.

Leg-spinner Rahul Chahar picked three wickets, including the dismissal of India B captain Shreyas Iyer for a five-ball duck. This was the second duck for the Indian international in as many games, not showing great signs for international comeback.

India D are already out of contention for Duleep Trophy 2024 title after suffering two defeats in the four-team tournament. However, the Shreyas Iyer-led side can play spoilsport to India B, who are in search of must win to pip table leaders India C in the final round. It should be noted that this edition of the Duleep Trophy won’t declare a winner by the virtue of a final. Instead, the team with most points on the table will take the silverware home.

Sanju Samson scored 106 from 101 balls to push India D’s total to 349 in the first session of the second day in the final round match against India B.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
