New Delhi: India’s tour of England where they will play in five Test matches will begin on June 20, next year, the Board of Control for Cricket in Indian announced on Thursday.
The first match will be held at Headingley in Leeds, followed by Edgbaston (Birmingham) from July 2-6. The third Test will be held at Lord’s from July 10-14, after which the series will move to Old Trafford in Manchester from July 23-27 and conclude at The Oval in London (July 31-August 4).
“India touring is always a big draw and a highlight of any cricket summer. The last men’s Test series here was a nailbiter and I’m sure next year’s clash will be just as exciting, while our women’s series are always fiercely competitive,” England and Wales Cricket Board’s chief executive officer Richard Gould said in a statement.
“I’m delighted we’ll also be welcoming both West Indies teams back again for white-ball series, following this year’s men’s Test series.”
The series will kickstart India’s matches for a fresh World Test Championship cycle. India last won a Test series in England in 2007 with their last away series ending in a 2-2 draw.
The series was suspended as India led 2-1 due to COVID-19 outbreak with the final Test played in 2022, which England won by seven wickets to square the series.
In the return series in India this year, the hosts prevailed 4-1. The India’s women’s cricket team will also travel to England for three ODIs and five T20Is in June-July 2025.
India are currently on top of the standings of the current WTC cycle and take on second-placed Australia in a five-match series from November 22.
