Is it the end of the road for Marcus Rashford at Manchester United?

New Delhi:  English forward Marcus Rashford may have sealed his way to return to Manchester United after Ruben Amroim questioned the 27-year-old’s commitment to the side. Rashford hasn’t played for Man United since December 12th and Amorim recently remarked that he would rather be playing his goalkeeper coach Jorge Vital aged 63 than someone who isn’t giving his everything each day.

Everyone feels that there is no other way for Rashford but to leave Old Trafford for people questioning his commitment. In spite of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee continuously failing and yet not having scored in 2025, Amorim cleared that there was little scope of Rashford ever playing for the Red Devils.

The general opinion is that Rashford needs to improve his work ethic with Rashford constantly failing to meet the big standards he has set for himself. According to most opinions on Rashford, there is little doubt that the English player is one of the best but he needs to fulfil Amorim’s demands on the pitch, apply his calibre and get his act correct.

Marcus Rashford timeline under Ruben Amorim

Since age seven Rashford has been with United, making more than 400 appearances in the outfit, winning one Europa League, two FA Cup and two EFL cups. After Amorim took over from Erik ten Hag in November, Rashford had scored in the first game the Portuguese manager took charge of, in a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town. In one of United’s performances in the season, United’s 4-0 win over Everton a week later came with Rashford scoring a brace in the game.

However, in the away Manchester derby clash, which United won 2-1, Rashford was left out of the squad and in a media interaction soon after had said that he was prepared for a “new challenge”. While there may have been some back and forth between the manager and player through the press, Rashford has never refuted the claims of taking shortcuts which begs the question, is Rashford giving his everything during practice?

Amorim’s demand from Rashford has been consistent. He wants his players to conduct themselves in the best manner both on and off the field and give their best shot in the training itself and he repeated this stance even after winning narrowly against Fulham.

What next for Marcus Rashford?

At the moment Rashford is being linked with a move during the winter transfer period and many believe that it would be ideal for him to leave with grace, with many Napoli emerging as the top contenders. Perhaps in a new league, he will rediscover himself and that might be the best outcome for both United and Rashford.

Rashford to date has played 60 games for England including the Euros 2020 final against winners Italy. For United, he had scored 30 goals across the competition in the 2023-24 season and was one of Ten Hag’s trusted player. However, for Rashford needs to find that purple patch and prove himself to be the player he once was.

After Manchester united’s win against Fulham, Ruben Amorim made it clear that Marcus Rashford is clearly not in his plans even while his forwards continue to falter.  Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
