Jemimah Rodrigues’ injury raises concerns about participation in Australia ODI series

New Delhi: Team India batter Jemimah Rodrigues retired hurt due to a possible wrist injury in the match between Brisbane Heat and Sydney Thunder in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) on Friday, November 29.

The injury also raised concerns about her participation in the three-match ODI series against Australia starting on December 5. Brisbane Heat defeated Sydney Thunder by nine wickets at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane and will face Melbourne Renegades in the WBBL final on Sunday at the MCG.

Rodrigues scored 43 runs off 30 balls with the help of five boundaries and one six before retiring hurt after the 10th over of the innings. She sustained a injury  in the left wrist earlier in the match while trying to save a boundary during Thunder’s innings. She landed awkwardly while diving in the field.

She batted with strapping on her left wrist during the run-chase. Her discomfort grew later and she left the field during the drinks break. Georgia Redmayne scored an unbeaten 51 runs off 41 balls Brisbane Heat chased down the target with 28 balls to spare.
