Joe Root matches Rahul Dravid’s Test feat, eyes Sachin Tendulkar’s milestone

New Delhi: Joe Root’s test form has been sensation in the last three years as he is unstoppable in the format. Root smashed his 36th test century against New Zealand in the second test match in Christchurch, New Zealand on December 8, Sunday.

Root was dismissed cheaply in the first innings against New Zealand but came back stronger in the second innings and scored a record 36th test ton. He completed his century in Bazball style by playing an incredible unorthodox shot.

Root scored 106 runs with 11 fours in the second innings and England declared their innings on 247 runs on the third day. Root continued his dream run in Test cricket. He is now in fifth position for scoring most centuries in test cricket.

Root completed his 36th test ton in 151 Test match and joined an elite list. Root will eye on to break Sachin Tendulkar’s 51 test ton record and also he is just behind 3,036 runs to become the most run scorer in Test cricket history.

England beat New Zealand in second test match

England defeated New Zealand by 323 runs in the second test match in Basin Reserve, Wellington on December 8, Sunday. New Zealand won the toss and elected to field first and got England’s top order in the hut under 43 runs. Harry Brook delivered again and smashed his eighth Test hundred and England finished their first innings in 280 runs.

In response, New Zealand were bundled out for just 125 runs. Gus Atkinson and Brydon Carse took four wickets each. England took a lead of 155 runs after the first innings and posted a mammoth total of 427 runs in the second innings.

England set a target of 582 runs for the home team. Kiwis bowled out on 259 runs on day 3 and lost back-to-back home tests against England.
