The 20-year-old Hall spent the previous season on loan in the northeast of England before joining Newcastle in July in a £28 million deal from Chelsea. The left-back has started seven of Newcastle’s ten Premier League games this season. It has finally been confirmed that both Harwood-Bellis and Lewis Hall will be a part of the England squad.

“They’re both players who have played a lot of minutes this season and have shown they can consistently play in the Premier League at a high level,” Carsley stated. The interim coach also had some great things to say for both the players as according to him, Taylor is a player who truly deserves this break as he knows him from Man City, where he captained the Under-21 team, had a good summer with promotion, and plays in the Premier League every week. Furthermore, he sets a great example for the other players in the under-21 team and is an excellent captain.
He also stated that Lewis Hall has taken his time getting settled in, but he is a good, left-footed player who deserves to be there and has proven to be quite reliable. Carsley has relied upon players he knows from his tenure as England Under-21s manager in each of the three camps he has overseen. The players that hoisted the trophy with Carlsey after he led the U21s to victory at the 2023 European Championship in Georgia have been honored.
The young players he brought in have been playing well, and he hasn’t given out any caps, but it has undoubtedly helped that he has experience working with them. This most recent England senior squad includes eight players who won the trophy under Carsley, seven of whom started the match against Spain.

With two games remaining, England are three points behind leaders Greece in Nations League B Group 2, having finished second after four games. Their Nations League campaign could increase their chances of making it to the next World Cup in addition to influencing where level they play at next in the competition. If they won their group, they would be promoted automatically; if they finished second, they would face a team that finishes third in League A in the play-offs. The matches for those playoffs are scheduled for March, and the draw will take place on November 22.
In addition, if a nation does not qualify for the 2026 World Cup through regular channels, it will advance to the qualification play-offs if it wins its Nations League group. While the 12 runners-up—which also include the four Nations League group winners with the best records who did not advance from their World Cup group—enter the play-offs, the 12 group winners in Europe’s World Cup qualifying will automatically advance to the finals.
