Lineman from Malappuram braves floodwater, wades through and restore power, wins hearts

Palakkad : In a remarkable display of courage and grit amidst adverse weather conditions, Sajeesh, a lineman working under the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) waded through a rough stream to restore electricity in the house of a 70-year-old women in Malappuram. The incident took place today morning when power outage was reported in many remote parts of Malappuram following strong winds and downpour.

The video has become a hit in social media where many social media users hailed lineman Sajeesh for his exemplary courage and grit where he decided to dive into the rough stream and restore power battling the heavy rains.

The incident occurred today morning when a 70-year-old named Ruqya residing alone in a house in Porur after there was a technical glitch when the wire connecting to her house was disconnected and the power outage took place. Undeterred, Sajeesh managed to swim through the Kakkathodu stream which was already overflowing due to the heavy rains.

His colleagues captured the moment in social media and was transferred ro his freinds which subsequently was viral in social media. Sajeesh was receiving congratulatory messages from various people following the video went viral.

Heavy rains predicted in northern districts

With heavy rain and gusty winds continuing to lash several parts of Kerala, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has revised the forecast and issued a red alert in three districts- Kasaragod, Wayanad and Kannur. An orange alert is issued for Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram and Kozhikode. Thiruvananthpuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Alappuzha are under a yellow alert.
