New Delhi: Magomed Ankalaev is finally getting a title shot after stretching his win streak to 12 fights in the UFC. Ankalaev is training hard for his first title fight as he will battle against UFC Light Heavyweight champion Alex Pereira in the UFC 313 pay-per-view.
This will be Pereira’s first title defense in 2025 and in the previous year he defended his title three times and his two title defences came on short notice, which shows his dominance in the division.
UFC Commentator Daniel Cormier criticised Pereira before his fight against Magomed as Pereira was traveling to Australia by taking his time out of his training camp. Pereira attended the UFC 312 event in Australia and was in the corner of Sean Strickland.
Ankalaev sent a fiery warning to Pereira that he would outstrike him in the fight and also stated that Pereira’s striking was overrated and had more weaknesses despite his more title defences.
Pereira also responded to Ankalaev’s warning by sharing a training video in the snow.
“I hope you’re ready to do this for 25 minutes,” Ankalaev said on X after Pereira’s training video.
Ankalaev will be a dangerous opponent for Pereira as Pereira’s opponents didn’t have the grappling skills that Ankalaev brought to the table in his fights.
