New Delhi: Musheer Khan scored a flamboyant knock to revive India B innings in their Duleep Trophy match against India A played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. After completing a century on the opening day of the tournament, the 19-year-old Musheer continued the ablaze against Shubman Gill and Co.
He stitched a record-breaking 205-run partnership with Navdeep for eighth wicket, surpassing the previous mark held by Abhishek Nayar and Ramesh Powar for West Zone in 2010 Duleep Trophy.
The duo turned the fortunes for India B as the team ended with a total of 321 for 10 a day after tottering at 94 for 7 in the afternoon. Musheer was the aggressor in this alliance, belting 16 boundaries and five sixes. He hoicked nonchalantly and drove past the covers stupendously in what was one of the best knocks by a teenage sensation against the likes of Avesh Khan, Khaleel Ahmed, Akash Deep and Kuldeep Yadav.
A monstrous six was smacked against Kuldeep Yadav as the ball touched one of the roof covers at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. When Musheer attempted for another slog sweep, he ended up holing out to Riyan Parag stationed at square leg. He was dismissed for 181 from 373 balls.
En route to his colossal knock, Musheer bettered the score of legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar, who scored 159 on his Duleep Trophy in 1990-91 season for North Zone against East Zone. Sachin remains the only batter to register three-figure score on debuts of Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy and Irani Cup.

At the age of 19 years and 192 days, Musheer has bettered Tendulkar’s 159 to become the second highest individual scorer on Duleep Trophy debut. Sachin was 17 when he made his first appearance in the Duleep Trophy in Guwahati.
Tamil Nadu batter Baba Aparajith, who played for South Zone in Duleep Trophy 2013, scored 212 against West Zone when he was 19. Yash Dhull is second to the record with 193 runs against East Zone in 2022 (this also at age of 19).
