New Delhi: The central government on Monday confirmed that it has no proposal to constitute the 8th Central Pay Commission for revision of pay and pension of Central Government employees.
In a written reply in Lok Sabha, MoS for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said that two representations have been received for constitution of 8th Central Pay Commission in June, 2024, but no such proposal is under consideration of the Government, at present.
The government clarification on 8th Pay Commission came after it received a letter from Shiv Gopal Mishra, secretary, Secretary General of the Confederation of Central Govt Employees and Workers, sent a letter to the Cabinet Secretary urging the government to prioritise the formation of the 8th Pay Commission.
With Budget 2024 just around the corner, it was being speculated that the government would announce the formation of the Eighth Pay Commission to revise basic pay, allowances, pension, and other benefits of the central government employees and pensioners.
