New Delhi: The second T20I turned into a nightmare for India opener Sanju Samson as he was bowled out for a duck by South Africa pacer Marco Jansen on Sunday at Gqberha’s St. George’s Park. The right-handed batter smacked a quickfire century in the first T20I against the Proteas, grabbing all the eyeballs and making a strong case for himself in the team’s T20I setup. It was his second century in succession but his Sunday outing fell flat.
The disappointment was clear on his face as he kept his head down while walking back towards the pavilion. The bat which smoked fire two days back was extinguished with just three balls into the game. It was just the third delivery of the first over and Jansen stuck to his length, keeping his length on the leg side and Samson tried making some room for himself but exposed his stumps.
The leg stump was uprooted and Jansen was all pumped up. It was a much needed breakthrough for the Proteas as they removed probably the most dangerous batter in Team India. However, as soon as Samson walked back, the internet wasn’t a wise place to visit for Samson. Those who lavished praise on him for scoring two back to back T20I centuries, came out against him, trolling for scoring a three-ball duck when he was expected to go big.
The fans weren’t gentle towards Samson and criticised him for “returning to his original form”. Some even wrote that Samson is back to his basics.

India score 124/6 in 20 overs
The pitch didn’t turn out in the favour of the Indian batters as after Samson, Abhishek Sharma was sent back on 4 and so was Suryakumar Yadav. Tilak Varma added 20 to the cause while Axar Patel managed a 21-ball 27. Hardik Pandya didn’t get the ball well on his bat as he played a sluggish 45-ball 39 with the help of four fours and a six. Rinku Singh made nine while Arshdeep Singh was unbeaten on seven runs. South Africa need 125 to level the three-match series.
Sanju Samson faced heavy backlash on the social media as he departed on a three-ball duck in the second T20I of the three-match series against South Africa on Sunday. Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
