New Delhi: June 19 marks a special day in the history of cricket. It was a landmark day for English cricket in particular as new records made entry into the history books of One Day International cricket. Six years have passed since England punished Australian bowlers in a record-breaking performance at Nottingham, but the performance remains fresh in the memories of cricket fans.
On this day, England, fresh from changing their white-ball template came out all guns blazing to script history. The Three Lions took power-hitting in cricket to another level and broke a plethora of records, including the highest ODI score and the most number of sixes in an ODI innings.
Courtesy of blazing centuries from Alex Hales and Jonny Bairstow and brisk half-centuries from Jason Roy and Eoin Morgan, England posted the then-world record ODI score of 481 for 6 in 50 overs. The English batters hammered 21 sixes in the innings to script another ODI record as hapless Aussies looked for answers to the insane onslaught without any avail.
There was never a dull moment in the English innings and that is all the more the reason to watch all the sixes all over again.

Hales was named Player of the Match for his extraordinary knock of 147 off 92 balls including 5 sixes. Meanwhile, Bairstow also hit five sixes in his 139-run knock in 92 deliveries. Roy provided the perfect platform with a blazing 61-ball 82 while skipper Morgan provided the finish touches with a brutal 30-ball 67-run knock.
England then bowled out Australia for 239 and clinched a massive 242-run victory.
Four years later, England broke their own record and hit 26 sixes, during their world record score of 498 for 4 against the Netherlands at VRA Cricket Ground in Amstelveen, Netherlands.
