New Delhi: Pakistan is set to appoint Salman Ali Agha as skipper for all the three formats in latest attempts to make yet another drastic changes to the national team ecosystem.

Agha will replace Shan Masood as the Test team’s captain apart from which the Pakistan Cricket Board will form an observation committee once the holidays of Eid gets over.

The observation committee will keeep a tab on the national team and recommend plan of action to PCB’s chairman, who has called up former skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed and ex-pacer Sikander Bakht for a meeting to Lahore.

“The two were informed about the decision to form the observatory committee and offered positions on it. Some other players will also be on this committee,” a Board source told PTI.

PCB chairperson Mohsin Naqvi is also keen the redraw the role and scope of the national selection committee, which would be done in consultation with new white-ball head coach Mike Hesson.

“Either there will be changes in the current selection committee which would continue to work with the Pakistan team management or a new selection set-up would be announced with prime focus on looking and finding talent from domestic and age group cricket,” the source added.

Naqvi wants the coach and captain to have a say in team selection with T20 skipper Agha bestowed with the added responsibility of leading the red-ball team even as PCB searches for a new coach for the five-day format.

Pakistan begin their new ICC World Test Championship cycle woth a two-match series against South Africa at home later in the year, in which they will play only five long-form matches.
