‘Parth Jindal is crazy for..’: LSG owner reveals why franchise bid Rs 27 Cr for Pant

‘Parth Jindal is crazy for..’: LSG owner reveals why franchise bid Rs 27 Cr for Pant

New Delhi: Star Indian wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant fetched a mega Rs.27 crore deal with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) franchise at the IPL 2025 mega auction in Saudi Arabia. He was involved in an intense bidding war between the LSG and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The Lucknow-based franchise placed the last bid of 20.75 crores for Pant and Delhi Capitals tried to use a Right to Match (RTM) card for him. LSG was asked by the auctioneer to place its final bid for Pant. After that LSG owner, Sanjiv Goenka quoted an amount of Rs 27 crore. DC declined to match the offer and Pant joined LSG in a record deal. He is also the most expensive player in the history of the cash-rich league.

‘Parth Jindal is so crazy for Rishabh Pant’: LSG owner Sanjeev Goenka

In a recent conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia on The TRS Show, Goenka revealed the reason behind quoting such a big amount for Pant. According to Sanjiv Goenka, DC co-owner is so crazy for Rishabh Pant and he was sure that Jindal will try his best to sign Pant back. He further added that the LSG team management calculated three scenarios for Pant and he was very important for the franchise in all of them.

“There was science behind going at 27 crore for Rishabh Pant. Delhi went for 26.5 crore for Shreyas Iyer. So, then my feeling was, ‘Parth Jindal is so crazy for Rishabh Pant, he would go one up at the IPL Auction.’ So, the idea was to go two up from Parth, or even three up, and that is where he would stop. For Rishabh, we had calculated three scenarios, and in all of them, he was very important to us” Goenka said.

The LSG owner also said that they had kept between 25 and 27 crore for the star wicketkeeper and when the bidding stopped for him at 21-22 crore, DC didn’t even wait for a second to use RTM for Pant and that means they are willing to go to the full extent for him.

Pant became the most expensive player in IPL history after LSG signed him for Rs 27 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
