New Delhi: It was Arsenal who took an early lead in the game against Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium. Just two minutes from kick-off Manuel Akanji’s defensive error on the edge of the box turned out to be expensive for Man City as Kai Havertz managed to put the on the left of the box before squaring it for Martin Odegaard who slotted his second goal in Premier League this season. Gabriel Martinelli then had almost doubled the lead just four minutes later, going over Martin Ortega but it was ruled out for offside on buildup, with the cross being played to him inside the box.
City though managed to slow down the game with some measured passes with their new signing Omar Marmoush even making a good run only for Thomas Partey to tackle hard. David Raya made an amazing save in the 23rd minute when Josko Gvardiol tried to equalise. Odegaard had a chance to score a brace but dragged his shot wide. Raya then made another save when Savinho charged with a low shot. At the break, Arsenal went with a 1-0 lead.

Arsenal come on top in second-half goal fest
At the start of the second half, City started with more possession and Erling Haaland soon equalized with Phil Foden passing to Savinho who served the ball perfectly for the Norwegian to slot his 19th goal of the league this season. However, City conceded in less than a minute with Thomas Partey, who received the ball on the right outside the box taking the Gunners into the lead.
Six minutes later Myles Lewis-Skelly gets into the scoresheet with a curling shot on the goal after Declan Rice makes a brilliantly judged pass. Ortega was under constant pressure with Martinelli coming close to scoring again but the German shot-stopper dived to deny him a score. Havertz then scored the fourth goal, as he went for an overlapping run with Martinelli setting him up for his ninth Premier League goal this season. The fifth and final goal came from Ethan Nwaneri’s left foot with Rice making his second assist of the game.
The win for Arsenal means they end their weekend with a six-point difference from table leaders Liverpool, staying in second place. While City losing the three points may not have cost them their top-four place, Newcastle will certainly fancy their chances of going past the reigning champions at their next opportunity.

Myles Lewis was outstanding as a defender for the hosts in the game, winning one tackle, making two clearances and making five recoveries. Of the eight duels he encounters, Lewis-Skelly won seven times.
It was the English international’s goal in the 62nd minute that drove Man City out of any chance of winning at the Emirates Stadium. The teenager was brilliant in the backline and his performance even trumped Kai Havertz whose efforts saw him make an assist and score a goal in the 76th minute.
