New Delhi: Ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu continued her superb run storming into the quarterfinals of the India Open Super 750 badminton tournament on Thursday. Sindhu, who has been exceptional in the ongoing event in the national capital, cruised past Japanese opponent Manami Suizu with ease registering a 21-15, 21-13 victory.
Though the world number 46 from Japan showed grit in both the sets but Sindhu emerged as a better player, sneaking a win with her top-class execution and play. Two-time Olympic medallist Sindhu will now take on Paris Olympics bronze medallist Gregoria Mariska Tunjung in the quarterfinal clash.
Kiran George also progresses
Meanwhile, Indian men’s player Kiran George also came up with a gritty performance to progress at the ongoing Badminton tournament. Kiran pulled off a stunning recovery, saving six game points to outplay Alex Lanier 22-20, 21-13 in the pre-quarterfinals. Kiran will take on left-handed Chinese shuttler Hong Yang Weng in the next round.
