Hyderabad: Rain, thunderstorms lashed the city on Thursday afternoon including in KPHB, Kukatpally, Hydernagar, Nizampet, Pragathi nagar, Borabanda, Yusufguda, Jubilee Hills, Maitrivanam, Ameerpet, Panjagutta, Ramanthapur, Uppal, Dilsukh nagar, LB nagar, Hayat nagar among others.
Low-lying areas were flooded and traffic disruptions were observed at some places.
Rainfall in the western part of GHMC area will gradually cease, Light to moderate rain will continue in the southeastern and northeastern parts of the city for the next hour, the weather department said. Rain lashed the city after a gap of three days and cloudy skies were seen for much of the day.
As per India Meteorological Department, heavy rain is likely in Adilabad, Komarambheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad Jagityal, Rajanna Sirisilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapalli, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem districts.
Strong surface winds of 30-40 kmph is very likely to prevail in parts of Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy Hyderabad, Malkajigiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool districts over the next few days, IMD said.
