New Delhi: Jude Bellingham, the star of Real Madrid, was given a two-match suspension by the RFEF Competitions Committee earlier this week for receiving a red card against CA Osasuna last weekend. Referee Munuera Montero gave the England international a straight red card for verbal altercations, stating in his official report that the midfielder screamed “F*** you” at him.
Real Madrid contended that he yelled “F*** off” rather than insulting the referee, but their accusations were dismissed by the Competitions Committee because they lacked sufficient proof. Bellingham was therefore given a two-match suspension, which prevented him from playing against Girona and Real Betis. However, Los Blancos promptly filed an appeal to have the punishment lifted.

Appeal has been rejected
However, according to AS, the RFEF Appeals Committee rejected Real Madrid’s petition and maintained the initial decision, therefore Bellingham will receive a two-game suspension. Real Madrid appealed to the committee in an attempt to reverse the ruling, claiming that the midfielder’s dismissal against Osasuna was unfair. It was a rather fair decision though, as many of the pundits also agreed with this decision.
Video evidence, which was presented to the RFEF even before the sanction was verified, served as the foundation for Los Blancos’ appeal. These documents, however, were ignored, as were the expert assessments that the club submitted. These reports were signed by David Hernanz de Lucas, an expert in English linguistics, and Jeremy Freeman, a highly recognized forensic lip-reading expert.
However, the Appeals Committee maintained the first decision, thus Bellingham will now miss Sunday’s encounter against Girona and Sunday’s match against Real Betis on March 2.
