New Delhi: Neeraj Chopra got off to the best possible start to his Olympic title defence on Tuesday. The man with the golden arm dominated the men’s javelin qualification at the Paris Olympics 2024 with a monster throw of 89.34m. It was the second-best throw of Neeraj’s career and one that sealed his place in the finals.
The Olympic and world champion, after qualifying for the finals, said that he is expecting tough competition in the fight for the podium and in his quest to claim the top spot has received massive support from star Indian wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant, who is currently in Sri Lanka for a white-ball series.
In his latest post on social media site X, the wicketkeeper-batter has announced prize money of ‘RS 100089’ for the fans who ‘like and comment the most’ his post and promised ‘flight tickets’ for the ‘rest top 10 people’.

Pant’s account was likely hacked on Wednesday morning as a couple of tweets were posted and then edited at around 7 am. As there is no confirmation yet, it is also possible that Pant himself has shared the posts to show support to Indian athletes.
Nonetheless, fans on social media didn’t take too long to react to the post.

Neeraj will fight for gold on Thursday against Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem and Grenada’s Andersen Peters – his main competitors in the finals.
