New Delhi: Sanju Samson got back to form after a while on Thursday as he scored a gritty knock in the ongoing Duleep Trophy tournament. The Indian wicketkeeper-batter, who was struggling to score runs for sometime, rescued his India D side with an unbeaten half-century in a game against India B in the last round of fixtures and also silenced the critics.
The star batter scored an unbeaten knock of 89 runs to boost his team’s score to 306/5 at the end of the first day’s play. His innings came off just 83 balls as he smashed 10 boundaries and 3 sixes to get back back to his original form. Samson looked in a fiery mode during the first day as he attacked the opposition bowlers right from the word go.

India D batters prove hot for India B
Apart from Samson, who excelled in the test and is expected to continue in the same manner on the second day, other batters from the India D side also proved quite tough for the opposition bowlers. Devdutt Padikkal and Srikar Bharat, who opened the innings for the team, smashed powerful half-centuries to set the perfect base for the side. While Padikkal scored 50 runs, Bharat went back to the pavilion after a fine knock of 52.
After the first two wickets, Ricky Bhui took charge of the innings and continued from where both the openers had left. He added 56 runs from his side to the team’s total before he was dismissed by Rahul Chahar. Nishant Sindhu added 19 runs while skipper Shreyas Iyer failed to deliver again as he departed for a golden duck. Saransh Jain (26) and Samson (89) will resume the innings for the side on Friday.
