New Delhi: News9’s revolutionary football initiative “Indian Tigers and Tigresses” has been making headlines among the young kids from Hyderabad since the landmark collaboration with Sports For All (SFA). The ongoing SFA Championships 2024 has provided a perfect platform for the youth brigade to showcase their talent and skills.
TV9 Network has tied up with SFA, one of the biggest youth sports development programmes in India, for the “Indian Tigers and Tigresses” campaign, a one-of-its-kind football talent hunt for young boys and girls (age group – 12 to 14 and 15 to 17) across the country.
The “Indian Tigers and Tigresses” campaign has joined hands with Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, India Football Centre, IFI, BVB, and RIESPO, to pick the best young talent in the country through a wide network of top-class scouting network. The winners will be felicitated in Germany in early 2025.
SFA has partnered with TV9 Network’s “Indian Tigers and Tigresses” campaign to spotlight and provide a platform for young football talent, allowing aspiring footballers to register for the biggest talent hunt at the SFA Championships.
Athletics excellence dominate headlines on Day 7
Day 7 of the SFA Championships 2024 witnessed high-octane action across Hyderabad, with young athletes pushing boundaries in multiple sports. At the Gachibowli Stadium kids showcased their skills in Basketball and Chess while Handball, Volleyball and Athletics added to the intensity of the thrilling sporting action. Handball and Volleyball kick-started with rounds 1 and 2 while chess enthusiasts enjoyed strategic face-offs in the U-11 Boys category. However, Athletics events stole the limelight.
Day 1 of Athletics concluded with the exciting finals in the Long Jump, Shot Put, and the much-awaited 100m sprints. Harveesh Sri Chiriki from Vignan’s Bo Tree School claimed the gold in Boys U-12 Long jump helping his school to maintain the top rank on the school leaderboard.
Meanwhile, Omar Ali from Glendale Academy Suncity starred in the U-18 Shot Put (5kg) category, winning the gold in boys. In the girls’ section, Sri Sai Ananya Odiala from St. Joseph Public School bagged the gold in the U-12 Long jump. After an eventful day of action, Days 2 and 3 are expected to offer more memorable moments in Athletics with the 100m Sprint finals being one of the most anticipated events.
At the Sri Kotla Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy Stadium, the crowd witnessed thrilling Taekwondo bouts and gripping Badminton quarter-finals. Salman Malik from The Integral School won in the boys U-14 category and Thirumani from Newton High School (Motinagar) won in the girls U-14 category in Taekwondo.
Football took centre stage at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium as teams battled for supremacy in the U-14 rounds.
