New Delhi: Bollywood superstar and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) co-owner Shah Rukh Khan recently reunited with former India opener Gautam Gambhir during the grand wedding ceremony of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant in Mumbai. Shah Rukh was spotted sharing a warm hug with the departing mentor of the KKR team.
Gambhir has left KKR after being appointed as the head coach of the Indian cricket team. He returned to the franchise ahead of IPL 2024 after ending his two-year stint and Lucknow Super Giants and guided the team to their third title triumph. Gambhir played a key role in KKR’s title victory but had to step down from the role following his appointment as the India head coach.
Both Shah Rukh and Gambhir were among the notable guests who attended the lavish wedding ceremony of Anant and Radhika. While Gambhir arrived at the event with his wife Natasha, Shah Rukh attended the wedding with his family. Shah Rukh caught up with Gambhir at the wedding celebrations and the duo was seen sharing a lovely hug before having a conversation.

Gambhir was offered a long contract by KKR but decided to end his stint with the franchise when the India head coach position was offered to him. The former India opener, who guided KKR to two titles as captain in 2012 and 2014, has always remained vocal about the strong support he has received from Shah Rukh throughout his tenure with the franchise.
Sri Lanka series to be Gambhir’s first assignment with Team India
The upcoming limited-overs series against Sri Lanka at home will be Gambhir’s first assignment with the Indian team. The India head coach is yet to decide on his support staff with several big names doing the round for the positions of the batting and bowling coach.
Gambhir has reportedly suggested Abhishek Nayar’s name for the role of batting coach while Zaheer Khan and L Balaji are reportedly in the fray for the position of bowling coach. As per reports, Gambhir has also endorsed for the inclusion of former Dutch player Ryan ten Doeschate in his coaching staff.
