New Delhi: India’s star athlete Neeraj Chopra won the silver medal at the Paris Olympics 2024 and has reacted to his mother’s comments which she made after the javelin throw final. Neeraj finished second in the final behind Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem. The comment made by Neeraj’s mother went viral on social media.
After the final, Neeraj’s mother said that she is happy with the silver medal and the boy who won the gold is also her son.
‘I am happy with the silver, the boy who got gold (Arshad Nadeem) is also my child, everyone goes there after doing a lot of hard work,” Neeraj Chopra’s mother said in an interaction with ANI.
Her comment earned a lot of praise from both India and Pakistan. Neeraj also said that his mother is not on social media and doesn’t watch a lot of news.
“My mother has grown up in a village. She grew up in a normal family and even after marriage, she has been living in a village. She is not on social media. She doesn’t watch a lot of news” Neeraj said.
He also said that his mother speaks from the heart and some people might find it strange and some people might like it. “She speaks from the heart of a mother. Some people might have found it strange, some people might have liked it” he added.
Neeraj also revealed his dream and said he wants to compete with other international stars in India. He also said that he’s hopeful that there will be an international competition in India soon.

The former Pakistan fast bowler also praised Neeraj’s mother and tweeted ‘The person who won gold, is also our son. This can only be said by a mother. Amazing’.
