New Delhi: Star India batter Shubman Gill has smashed a century for Punjab in the ongoing Ranji Trophy Elite Group C match against Karnataka on Saturday, January 25. Gill opened the innings for Punjab in the match which is currently underway at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. He hit 14 boundaries and three maximums and reached the triple-figure mark in 159 balls.
Apart from Gill, the other Punjab batters struggled to score and didn’t even cross the 30-run mark. Punjab was bowled out for just 55 runs in 29 overs of the first innings after being asked to bat first on Thursday. The right-handed batter played three Test matches in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy and was only able to score just 4 runs from eight balls in the first innings. This was his first hundred for Punjab in the Ranji Trophy in over five years, with his previous century coming against Vidarbha in December 2019.
