Stocks in News Today: Acme Solar, Airtel, IndiGo, NTPC, Tata Consumer and more

New Delhi: The Sensex was down 964.15 points to 79,218.05 while the Nifty declined 247.15 points to 23,951.70. Indian markets followed cues from Asian peers owing to widespread selloff following the US Federal Reserve’s hawkish stance on interest rates. TO be sure, the Bank of Japan’s decision to keep interest rates unchanged curbed selling to some extent, said Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Financial Services, said.

On the 30-share Sensex, Infosys, Bajaj Finserv, and JSW Steel were the top drags while Sun Pharma, Power Grid and HUL were the gainers. Here are stocks that are likely to remain in focus on Friday, December 20, 2024:

Acme Solar: The company said it has commissioned a 1,023 MW solar capacity project in Rajasthan. The total capacity is spread across 4 projects.

Airtel: The telco said it had prepaid a government loan worth Rs 3,626 crore towards the clearance of government dues for spectrum purchased in 2016.

Amara Raja: Hyundai Motor India said it will use Amaron batteries in its vehicles going forward. Amaron;s Absorbent Glas Mat battery will be used in Hyundai cars for starting, lighting and Ignition.

DOMS Industries: The stationery maker’s Italian promoter FILA Group sold a 4.6 per cent stake worth Rs 798 crore in the company.

Indian Oil Corp: The oil major said it plans to invest Rs 21,000 crore towards expanding its refinery in Bihar.

IndiGo: The airline’s promoter Interglobe Aviation said it will extend a $43 billion loan to its IFSC unit for the purpose of acquiring aircraft.

Mufin Green: The EV financier said it had inked an agreement with the US IDFC for a $18 million credit line to finance its onward lending business.

NHPC: The state-owned entity said it plans to invest Rs 5,500 crore in renewable energy in Bihar.

NTPC: The state-owned entity said it plans to set up a nuclear power facility in Bihar, said CMD Gurdeep Singh. The company’s step-down unit NTPC Renewable Energy started the commercial supply of 30 MW power from its Mesanka, Gujarat-based sola project of 150 MW capacity.

SpiceJet: The company settled its dispute with aircraft lessor Genesis over the repayment of dues worth $16 million. Genesis will acquire a $4 million stake in the budget carrier.

Tata Motors: The vehicle manufacturer secured an order for an additional 148 electric buses from the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corp. The BMTC had earlier ordered 921 electric buses.

Tata Consumer: The comoany denied reports of coffee chain operator Starbucks mulling an exit from India. Tata Group operates Starbucks outlets in India in a joint venture with the coffee chain giant.
