New Delhi: After the Test series, Team India will take on Bangladesh in the three-match T20I series starting on October 6 in Gwalior. There were major doubts about skipper Suryakumar Yadav’s availability for the series but recent reports suggest that he will be available for the home T20I series.
As per the reports, Suryakumar is recovering well from the injury he sustained during the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament. The report further stated that the National Cricket Academy (NCA) medical staff and Suryakumar is happy the recovery.
“Surya’s recovery is going well. He is almost 100 per cent and he knows it” said a BCCI source during the Duleep Trophy match between India A and India B at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Suryakumar was supposed to play for India C in the first round of the Duleep Trophy against India D in Anantapur but an injury ruled him out of the match. He was sent to the NCA for the recovery.
Surya injured his right thumb while fielding in the Buchi Babu Invitational tournament against TNCA XI on day 3 of the match and did not bat in the second innings. He was present at the Bengaluru Stadium during the first-round match of the Duleep Trophy. He had a chat with a few of his India teammates and seemed in a good mood.
As per the reports, he will feature in the latter half of the Duleep Trophy 2024. The BCCI also has not named any replacement for Suryakumar in the India C squad and expecting his availability from the second round.
BCCI announces updated squad for second round of Duleep Trophy 2024
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have announced the updated squads for the second round of the Duleep Trophy 2024. Rinku Singh replaced Rishabh Pant in the India B squad. Yashasvi Jaiswal was also replaced by Suyash Prabhudessai. Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel and Kuldeep Yadav were released from the India A squad for the Bangladesh Test series.
