Chennai: Tamil actor Karunas was detained briefly at the Chennai International Airport for allegedly carrying gun bullets in his handbag. When actor Karunas arrived at the Chennai airport to board a flight from Chennai to Trichy, he was subjected to routine checks. The security personnel found around 40 live bullets when they detected the actor’s hand luggage.
On being inquired, Karunas explained that he had a gun license and that the bullets belonged to that gun. However, Karunas has claimed that he knew not to bring bullets into the airport and had brought them out of forgetfulness. After the interrogation, the Tamil actor was let go but did not proceed to take the flight and no case was registered against him, the police said.
Due to this incident, the flight which was supposed to take off from Chennai to Trichy was delayed by about 30 hours.
