Bogatha Waterfalls in Mulugu district of Telangana has been temporarily closed after a 19-year-old engineering college student drowned and died at the site, police said.
The student identified as Bonagani Jashwanth of Enumamula village, Warangal district, reportedly was there with his friends. Officials installed a banner at the site to prevent visitors from entering the waterfall. His body was recovered from the site.
Due to flood surge, we urge tourists not to visit the site, forest department staff told the media.’
Meanwhile, Godavari water level at Bhadrachalam has come down on Wednesday, after rising for four days due to heavy rain. Flooding cut off road connectivity to Bhadrachalam from Chinthur and Kumnavaram mandals, damaged standing crops inundating cotton, soya, red gram and other crops in Mancherial, Komarambheem Asifabad.
Farmers said that they spent Rs 30,000 to cultivate cotton crops and asked the government for compensation.
Light to moderate rain is likely in several districts of Telangana over the next few days, the India Meteorological Department said.
Bhadrachalam MLA Tellam Venkat Rao while overseeing flood relief in his constituency, was called on to perform a C-section on two women at the government area hospital amid floods and lack of availability of surgeons at the hospital. A baby boy and baby girl were delivered at the hospital with the help of staff.
