Hyderabad Police filed a charge sheet against the six accused cops in the phone-tapping case in Telangana on Tuesday, reports said.
The six accused cops include ex-Taskforce DCP Radha Kishan Rao, suspended DSP Praneeth Rao, Additional Superintendents Tirupatanna, Bhujanga Rao, who have been arrested by Hyderabad Police since March.
The details include erasing of official data from various electronic gadgets at SIB office, tapping phones of various personalities to help the previous BRS regime.
The charge sheet was filed under IPC PDPP Act and IT Act 2000, and also named ex-SIB chief T Prabhakar Rao and one other individual, who are now absconding.
The issue of phone-tapping came out after BRS lost Assembly elections in the state to Congress in December. The accused destroyed evidence by erasing data, replacing servers and damaging hard disks of 17 computers.
Based on a complaint filed by an additional superintendent of police of the SIB on March 10, a case was registered against suspended DSP D Praneeth Kumar alias Praneeth Rao of SIB and others at the Panjagutta police station here on charges of criminal breach of trust by a public servant.
Former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao allegedly wanted to use the “BRS MLAs” poaching case to force BJP into a compromise to get rid of the ED case against his daughter and MLC K Kavitha, according to the alleged confession statement of a former DCP, one of the arrested accused in the phone tapping case.
