New Delhi: Social media erupted in joy on Friday after Indian stand-in skipper and pace spreadhead Jasprit Bumrah displayed a spectacle at the Perth stadium. On the first day of the first Test match of Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia, Bumrah led a terrific comeback for the visitors post a poor show by the batters in the first innings.
After India were bundled out for just 150 runs, Bumrah came charging on the track claiming four crucial wickets to put Team India in the driver’s seat on Day 1. In his spell of 10 overs, the ace Indian pacer gave away just 17 runs and also bowled 3 maidens to rattle the Aussie batters, giving them a taste of their own medicine.

As soon as the first day’s play ended, social media flooded with with love and praise for the Indian pacer, hailing him as the greatest of this generation. Meanwhile, India, after winning the toss, were all out for a paltry total of just 150 runs inside 50 overs on the first day. Debutant Nitish Reddy emerged as the top-scorer for the side with 41 runs while wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant smashed 37 runs. Josh Hazlewood was the pick of the bowlers for Australia claiming four Indian wickets.
For India, apart from a remarkable Bumrah show, Mohammed Siraj and another debutant Harshit Rana also contributed by taking two and one wicket respectively to leave the Aussies tottering at 67 for 7 at the stumps on Day 1.
