Ingredients:

1 cup dried green peas (matar)
2 medium onions, chopped
2 medium tomatoes, chopped
1 teaspoon ginger paste
1 teaspoon garlic paste
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
Salt, to taste
2 tablespoons mustard oil or vegetable oil
2 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander (optional)
1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional)

Instructions:

Wash the green peas and steam them in a pressure cooker.
Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
Now, add the chopped onions and saute them so they turn translucent.
In this add the chopped tomatoes and saute them until they are soft and mushy.
In this mixture, add the ginge- garlic paste, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and red chilli powder and mix well.
Add the green peas, salt, and 1/2 cup water.
Reduce the heat to low and leave it for about 20-25 minutes until the peas turn tender.
Garnish with chopped coriander and a squeeze of lemon juice, if needed.
Serve hot with poori, roti, or rice.
