London: In a country where girls have been exploited by Islamist grooming gangs for at least four decades, it is no surprise that the United Kingdom is coming apart at the seams. Naturally, there is anger among Britons over the Southport stabbings that killed three girls aged between 6 and 9. The word on social media is that they were stabbed to death by an immigrant, a claim that is reportedly false.
However, one false claim cannot overshadow the larger issue that radical Islamists are enjoying an excessive amount of freedom in the UK in the name of “minority rights,” “racial equality,” “religious freedom,” and “diversity.” Anjem Choudary is a case in point, not jailed for “directing a terrorist organisation,” which is a softer way of saying he recruited many to ISIS and has openly talked of installing the flag of Islam on British soil.
Instead of addressing the root of the issue, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer of the centre-left Labour Party has cracked down on the social media activities of his citizens. Talk about freedom of speech, huh? On the contrary, the UK government has been silent on the persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh while also sidelining Sheikh Hasina after reports claimed she might seek asylum in the UK.
A former coloniser that found true freedom in Brexit—pun intended—cited laws, rules, and regulations to wash its hands of giving asylum to a democratically elected head of state who was overthrown by fundamentalists; again, the same kind who trouble the UK and Europe at large. The strategically calm response of the West, largely of the US, seems more like a justification for their role in the chaos and anarchy in Bangladesh—in short, the white man’s burden. An acceptance of sorts has been displayed by the West for the persecution of minorities in Bangladesh.
In the UK, Starmer has vowed to crack down on those even sharing a post that may be deemed inciteful by British authorities; this, while gang rape accused have often walked free because the authorities fear being perceived as racist for taking action. Amidst one community crying victim, the plight of Bangladeshi Hindus once again goes unheard.
