TIruchirapalli: A drunk man was rescued after he was stranded under the bridge across the gusting Kollidam river in Tamil Nadu’s Trichy district on Wednesday night. According to police, the homeless man identified as S Sasikumar (60) from Lalgudi , slept under the bridge across Kollidam river, was surrounded by water released from Mukkombu on Wednesday night. He was rescued by Tiruchy fire and rescue personnel on Thursday morning. The rescue video has gone viral on social media.

Kollidam river flooding
A large amount of water has been released into the Cauvery and Kollidam rivers from the Mukkombu upper dam in Trichy district. 31,000 cubic feet of water flows into the Cauvery and 75,000 cubic feet of water from the Mukhombu.
