Nilgiris: The Tamil Nadu Forest and Fire Department officials took steps to rescue a baby elephant that fell into a 30-foot well in the Kurichi Nagar area near Kolapalli in Nilgiris on Wednesday, May 29, 2024. The calf fell into the well in the morning hours, according to locals. The rescue operations began a few hours after the forest and fire officials mobilized their workforce and machines. The rescue operations are currently underway.

The forest officials trying to save the baby elephant which fell into the well with the help of JCB and other mechanism. There have been incidents of wild elephants roaming for food and drinking water sometimes get electrocuted and fell into waterbodies like well.
