New Delhi: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Ruturaj Gaikwad intensified his team’s rivalry with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) as he took a cheeky jibe at them at a promotional event recently. As he addressed the audience, Gaikwad’s microphone malfunctioned which prompted the batter to cheekily utter that it must be someone from the RCB behind the mishap. As soon as he made the comment, the audience burst into laughter and applause.

The video of the incident has gone viral on the internet as fans, specifically those of CSK, are loving their skipper’s humour and wit, without hurting the sentiments of the other side as it was just a light-hearted remark. The details regarding the event remain unclear but the interaction was highlighted by Gaikwad’s humorous response and smart thinking.

Gaikwad’s mic went off all of a sudden and as he tried to speak, he couldn’t be heard on the speakers. The host of the event said, “How can you turn off Ruturaj’s mic?” to which Gaikwad quickly replied, “Might be someone from RCB.” The playful dig was seemingly appreciated by every fan present in the event and it has further fuelled the rivalry between CSK and RCB.

Although the clash between CSK and RCB, also known as Southern Derby, has had its aura over the years in terms of the shared rivalry but IPL 2024 saw the two teams meeting on a very bitter note.
