New Delhi: Gujarat Titans were on top of their game with both bat and ball as they defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru by eight wickets in an IPL 2025 match Bengaluru on Wednesday.

GT won the toss and restricted home team RCB to 169/8 and then chased down the total in 17.5 overs to complete their second successive win. It was RCB’s first defeat in IPL 2025 after two consecutive wins.

For GT, Jos Buttler remained unbeaten on 73 off 39 balls, hitting five boundaries and six sixes while opener Sai Sudharsan scored 49 off 36 balls (7×4, 1×6).

This is GT’s second biggest win by wickets while chasing, after their 9-wicket win with 37 balls to spare against Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur in 2023.

Siraj sparkles

Mohammed Siraj (3/19) led with the ball as Gujara Titans restricted Royal Challengers Bengaluru to 169 for eight. For the home team RCB, Liam Livingstone top-scored with a stroke-filled 54.

He was dropped by Rahul Tewatia on 9 at the deep off R Sai Kishore and survived a close leg before wicket call to unleash some mighty sixes that sailed into the stands.

Gujarat won the toss and elected to field on a slow and sticky pitch and dismissed Virat Kohli (7) after he began with a silky cover drive. But his attempted pull off Arshad Khan went straight into the hands of the deep square leg fielder Prasidh Krishna.

With their star batter gone, RCB’s batting unit floundered, as Siraj, who had previously played for RCB for seven years, made inroads with penetrative bowling.

Opener Phil Salt couldn’t capitalise on the dropped catch by Jos Buttler off Siraj when he was on zero, skipper Rajat Patidar and Devdutt Padikkal also took the long road back to the pavilion early as RCB were reduced to 42 for four in 6.2 overs.

Siraj castled Salt and Padikkal after both gave him the charge. RCB’s innings were given a bit of shape by Jitesh Sharma (33, 21b) and Livingstone (54, 40b, 1×4, 5×6).

Together Sharma and Livingstone put together 52 runs off 38 balls for the fifth wicket. Left-arm spinner R Sai Kishore (2/22) then dismissed Jitesh with a mistimed overhead shot that was caught by Tewatia.

Livingstone blasted leg spinner Rashid Khan for three sixes in an over to complete his half century in 39 balls.

Livingstone then put on 46 runs for the seventh wicket with Tim David (32, 18 balls, 3×4, 2×6) as RCB crossed the 150-run mark.

Gujarat Titans beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by eight wickets in their IPL 2025 game on Wednesday, chasing down a target of 170 runs with 13 balls to spare.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
