Zlatan Ibrahimovic convinced Alvaro Morata to sign for AC Milan

New Delhi:In the ever-changing world of football transfers, some moves catch our eye not just for their strategy but for the people behind them. Alvaro Morata’s expected move to AC Milan is one of those. What makes this transfer special is the role of the legendary Zlatan Ibrahimovic. His influence and persuasion were key in bringing the Spanish striker to the Rossoneri.

Ahead of AC Milan’s friendly against Manchester City Zlatan Ibrahimovic revealed how he convinced Alvaro Morata to join Milan. The Spaniard is currently enjoying his holidays after his Euros win and will join his teammates after the pre-season tour in the USA.

As quoted by Gazzette Ibrahimovic during their press conference last night told the reporters “I told him that Milan is an ideal place and that the No.9 position is the best we can offer, with players like Pulisic, Rafael Leao, and Chukwueze around him.”

Ibrahimovic’s approach reflects a deeper understanding of what players seek beyond the financial and professional aspects. Adding further to the same, he said, “We just want to make him happy, so he will perform better. We just want to make him happy, so he will perform at his best. I don’t know a player who isn’t happy here, you just have to concentrate on football. We are super confident and super optimistic, we welcome him with open arms.” His words were not just about the opportunity to wear the prestigious No. 9 jersey, but also about the environment and support system Milan offers its players.

In a symbolic gesture of his continued commitment to the club, Ibrahimovic expressed his desire to be Milan’s 13th player. He called fans as the 12th player. While the fans provide unwavering support from the stands Ibrahimovic presence offers a blend of mentorship, tactical insight, and morale-boosting, bridging the gap between the management and the squad.

In a conversation with Christian Pulisic on CBS Mornings on Friday, Ibrahimovic was seen telling him that playing football was easier than his current job. The Swedish icon who retired from professional football and took up a significant advisory role with Red Bird in December 2023 has seamlessly transitioned into a key strategist for the club. His involvement in player transfers and long-term projects underscores his commitment to ensuring Milan’s sustained success.

AC Milan’s pre-season tour in the USA, where they will face football giants like Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, is a crucial period for the team to gel and for new players like Morata to integrate. These high-profile matches will serve as a testing ground for the squad’s readiness ahead of their Serie A debut against Torino on August 17.
