New Delhi: Vitor Roque has hardly had an opportunity to showcase his abilities at Barcelona, but it appears that he will be leaving the team after just six months of a contract that runs until 2031. The 19-year-old hasn’t made enough of an impression on Hansi Flick, the new manager, in the first several weeks of training. Even though there would have been a significant pay increase, Roque rejected down the opportunity to move to Saudi Arabia this summer. However, Sport reports that he might be interested in joining Lazio.
The Eagles offered Barcelona €20 million in exchange for 50% of his rights, but the Blaugrana did not appear to be enticed by the offer since they believed it was too low. However, Roque would consider a switch if the clubs could come to an agreement for him. The Brazilian is still perplexed as to why, just six months after Barcelona paid €30 million to get him—with an additional €31 million in variables—they have since altered their minds. Barcelona will obviously attempt to recover their investment, but they have already said that they think they have made a mistake.

Barcelona is in no position to be making mistakes in the transfer market, much less costly ones, so it’s undoubtedly a messy situation. It also leaves them facing a major issue down the road: the main reason Roque was signed was because Barcelona knew they wouldn’t have the money to sign a top number nine at the top of their game once 35-year-old Robert Lewandowski left or couldn’t perform as desired.
